Vince Fletcher (1971-1973)
Vince Fletcher may well have been the best guard recruit of the Jack Magee era, but he is otherwise forgotten in the transition from the Magee era to that of John Thompson.
An all-Bronx selection from DeWitt Clinton HS, Fletcher brought an up-tempo style to the Georgetown backcourt in 1971-72, finishing second on the team in scoring as a sophomore. The arrival of John Thompson's first recruiting class (including guards Jon Smith and Mike Stokes) moved Fletcher to more of a reserve role. As a junior, Fletcher averaged just five points per game but scored a career high 18 points versus George Washington and picked up a game winning jumper in a game versus Dickinson College.
Expected to play as a senior, a heart-related illness sidelined Fletcher for the 1973-74 season.
