Tim Lambour (1971-1974)

The transition of the final roster of Jack Magee's 1971-72 Georgetown Hoyas into the John Thompson era was a rough one for many. Some didn't make the varsity roster, others disappeared on the bench. For Tim Lambour, he proved to a a valuable upperclassman who helped build the early years of Thompson's backcourts.

An honorable mention all-State selection at Bishop Guilfoyle HS, Lambour averaged 5.6 points a game with a team high 116 assists. As a junior, he started every game in the 1972-73 season alongside freshman Jon Smith, leading the team in assists and steals, with a pair of 12 assist games against Army and Holy Cross.

"He is all hustle and guts," said Thompson. "[He] works as hard as any player on or off the court."

Lambour shared court time with Alonzo Holloway his senior season, shooting 47 percent from the field but averaging just 3.8 points per game. Across his three seasons, however, Lambour was a proficient set-up man for Georgetown scorers. His 374 assists was a school record until 1980, and his 5.05 assists per game still ranks him among the top five all time in that category, ahead of Allen Iverson and stands alongside that of Kevin Braswell, Joey Brown, and Michael Jackson.
