Pete George (1969-1970)

Pete George was a reserve guard on the 1969-70 NIT team, seeing action in 12 games and averaging just over a point a game. While his senior season was his only year on the Hoyas, it wasn't his first run in basketball.

An All-Met guard at Gonzaga in 1965, George played two years at Army under coach Bob Knight, where the Cadets finished 20-5 in 1967-68 and earned its fourth NIT bid in a five year streak. The Cadets had one of its closest finishes that season at Georgetown's McDonough Gymnasium, where a pair of free throws by guard Mike Krzyzewski with :08 left gave Army a 60-59 lead which was enough for the win.

George transferred to Georgetown later that year, sitting out the 1968-69 season. His five points against Loyola marked a season high as a senior, where the Hoyas had considerable depth at guard and returned to the NIT for the first time in 17 seasons. Georgetown was edged out by Louisiana State, 83-82, where Pete Maravich's college career would end two weeks later at the hands of Army, 75-68.

Following Georgetown, Pete George earned a law degree from Catholic University and served for many years as the Deputy Chief of the Appellate Division for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. He has been in private practice in the Tampa area since 1989.
