Nikita Mescheriakov (2008-2010)
Here was a relationship that both the coach and the player seemed to give up on.
An economics major from Belarus, Mescheriakov's older brother Yegor had been a star at George Washington, finishing his career ranked eighth all-time in scoring with 1,645 points. The younger brother never had an impact at Georgetown, however. Mescheriakov started nine games in 2008-09 but averaged less than three points per game. Of immediate concern; a waning three point shot, averaging just 26 percent.
Seven games into his junior season (having redshirted as a freshman), Mescheriakov announced his transfer, deciding on Wake Forest two weeks later. He had a productive career at Wake, shooting 47 percent from the floor as a junior. He started all 31 games as a senior with a career high of 18 versus Duke.
Mescheriakov could have been an interesting outside threat for Georgetown into 2010 and 2011, but both sides parted ways. Mescheriakov played on the Belarus national team and is a professional in the Romanian league under the Byelorussian spelling of his name, Mikita Meshcharakou.
