Lamont Morgan (1990-1994)
A local player from Gonzaga College HS, Lamont Morgan's time on the court decreased each of his four years, but he continued to play with purpose and dedication.
Morgan saw his best numbers as a freshman, starting four games as a small forward in mid-season before returning to the backcourt as a reserve guard. He posted career highs in points (11) and rebounds (9) within one week of each other in December 1990, but struggled in conference play, shooting just 21 percent from the field in Big East play, 18 percent from three, and finished with a 4.4 scoring average. Morgan's shooting improved in later seasons, but he found himself behind a number of other Hoya guards on the depth chart, including Joey Brown, George Butler, John Jacques, and Irvin Church. As a result, his time had diminished to about 10 minutes a game as a sophomore and eight as a junior.
Morgan played in just 21 games as a senior, averaging about five minutes a game, but did not score in the final 14 games of the season.
Following Georgetown, Morgan earned an MBA from Johns Hopkins and served as a trader with the Federal National Mortgage Association before beginning a 16 year career with New Balance, a Boston-based apparel manufacturer.
