Jerry O'Connor (1932-1934)

Additional research is needed on Jerry O'Connor, who played center from 1932-1934.

"Jerry O'Connor, who was one of the highest scorers in the Eastern Intercollegiate League, was one of the dead shots who was responsible for Georgetown's holding down third place in that body," wrote the 1934 Ye Domesday Booke. "Jerry was poison under the basket and as a forward proved highly effective."

O'Connor earned two law degrees at Georgetown and served in the Department of State during World War II. An online citation references Col. O'Connor as having received the Bronze Star and the Army Legion of Merit "for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in the Judge Advocate General's Department" at the end of the war.

According to an obituary, O'Connor joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1950, serving as Director of the Legal Division in the U.S. embassy in Vienna, Austria, and later as U.S. Consul at Salzburg.
