Josh LeBlanc (2018-2020)
Entering his sophomore season, no Georgetown player had a higher ceiling on his potential than forward Josh LeBlanc. One month later, it was all over.
Leblanc was a four star recruit among a group of freshmen that included James Akinjo, Mac McClung, and Grayson Carter, averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds a game at Madison Prep in Baton Rouge, LA. He started 22 of 33 games, finishing fourth on the team in scoring and second in rebounds, with a career high 17 boards in a win over Seton Hall and 10 games with 10 or more rebounds in a game. His six double-doubles as a freshman was matched by only two Georgetown freshmen in the past two decades --first round NBA draft Picks Mike Sweetney and Jeff Green.
Shooting a team best 63 percent from the field, LeBlanc's combination of offensive utility and defensive agility made him a Big East All-Rookie selection at the close of the 2018-19 season, with a considerable upside projected as a sophomore.
LeBlanc was held out of the season opener for an unspecified violation of team rules, a rare (and in hindsight, telling) warning of trouble around the corner. LeBlanc did not start a single game in November, averaging 7.2 points and 2.2 rebounds a game off the bench. What was thought to be a case of being in a coach's doghouse turned into something else on December 2, when LeBlanc was announced as having been dismissed from the team.
LeBlanc was accused in two civil complaints by a pair of Georgetown students of assault and burglary from a September 15 incident. "One woman alleged LeBlanc burglarized her home, and claimed LeBlanc and [forward Galen] Alexander have repeatedly threatened bodily harm against the women, verbally and by text," reported WTOP-FM. "A complaint from another woman alleged sexual harassment and assault at the home on Sept. 15, which was followed the next night by a burglary."
On Dec. 31, 2019, LeBlanc announced a transfer to Louisiana State; a pending student judicial board inquiry into the incident was rendered moot by the transfer. The DC Metropolitan Police Department closed the case without pursuing charges.
Josh LeBlanc's tenure at LSU was surprisingly unproductive. He started in just one game and finished with a 3.2 points per game average. In the spring of 2021, LeBlanc transferred to Alabama-Birmingham, starting in one game with a 4.6 points per game average. Transferring to Nicholls State, he did not play in 2022-23, and transferred yet again in the summer of 2023, this time to the NAIA program at LSU-Shreveport.
