A late signing in the summer of 2024, Julius Halaifonua was a 7-0, 290 pound center by way of the NBA Global Academy in Canberra, Australia. Halaifonua was ranked #33 among players for the high school class of 2025 but opted to reclassify to 2024, where he was ranked 60th in that cohort.

Halaifonua averaged 13 minutes per game over Georgetown's first six games of the season until he suffered a foot injury in practice. An announcement from the basketball office one week later confirmed Halaifonua's injury, with surgery to follow, and he did not play for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Platooning with transfer Vince Iwuchukwu, Halaifonua started 28 of 32 games as a sophomore. Each had pros and cons in the pivot-- Iw uchukwu was strong offensively but was  vulnerable on internal defense, while Halaifonua was strong inside but lacked an outside touch, with most of his points coming from layups, tip-ins, and points from the foul line. A five game stretch in December while Iwuchukwu was held out of the lineup  was some of Halaifonua's best play of the season, averaging 19.2 points and 5.8 rebounds, leading the team three times in scoring over a five game period. He concluded the season string, including a 21 point, 10 rebound  game versus Villanova in the Big East tournament quarterfinals.
