Joe Corless (1932-1935)
One could not find a busier college schedule than that of Joe Corless--a three sport athlete, cheerleader, and student council representative, Corless balanced it all with pre-medical studies, graduating in 1935.
Corless played in 52 games for the Fred Mesmer teams of the mid 1930's, starting at guard alongside a number of candidates for the position. Through it all, Corless was a team mainstay, and was recognized in the press for his defensive skills.
Following undergraduate studies, Corless pursued a medical degree at Georgetown and later served in World War II. In his later career, he was named a fellow of the International College of Surgeons.
