Edward Drysgula (1945-1946)
Amidst names such as Ewing, Mourning, and Iverson in the Georgetown record book is included the name of Edward Drysgula. As a College sophomore in 1945, Drysgula joined Georgetown's first post-war intercollegiate team, which was comprised largely of walk-ons while the scholarship players from 1943 were completing military obligations. Following Georgetown, Drysgula served in the Korean War and received a dental degree from Tufts, eventually settling in Middletown CT and and practicing dentistry for over 60 years. The band leader of the college orchestra while at GU, Dr. Drysgula was a clarinet and saxophone member with a local community band well into his 80's.
