A member of the Seton Hall Prep Hall of Fame, Dick Farrell came to Georgetown following SHP's Essex County titles in 1951 and 1952. He played in just ten games as a member of the freshmen team, but saw action in the first 13 games of his sophomore season.

In January 1955, citing "discliplinary reasons", Farrell was one of three players suspended from the team for the remainder of the season. Farrell transferred to Seton Hall, seeing action in the 1956-57 season.
