Bob Makatura (1950-1953)

Described by his yearbook as "a ballhandling wizard", Bob Makatura was a valuable sixth man on the Georgetown teams of the early 1950's, and was capable of some big scoring nights to prove it.

The New York native enjoyed some of his best games under the coaching of Buddy O'Grady from 1950 through 1952. He averaged 9.1 points per game as a sophomore including a season high 21 off the bench versus Seton Hall and double figures in 10 of 22 games. His junior year saw a 7.4 average and though he never led the team in scoring in any one game, he finished fourth overall in team scoring.

Makatura played more of a backup role under new coach Buddy Jeannette in 1952-53. Makatura played in the first seven games of the season but played only five more games for the rest of the season.
