Al Lujack (1939-1942)
The third of four sons that grew up in Pennsylvania's coal country, Al Lujack was a three sport star in football, basketball and track at Connellsville HS. The younger brother of 1947 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Lujack, "Allie" went to Georgetown, playing three years as a 220 lb. tackle, a shot putter, and as a reserve center on the basketball team.
Lujack averaged 4.9 points as a sophomore in 1939-40, and did not play in 1940-41 with the football season running into January as a result of the Hoyas' Orange Bowl bid. He returned to basketball and track as a senior, where a 10 point effort at Loyola-Chicago was a career best.
Following military service in World War II, Washington Capitols coach Red Auerbach invited Lujack to his 1946-47 pro team, where he saw action in five games as a reserve.
