Here was a relationship that both the coach and the player seemed to give up on.

An economics major from Belarus, Mescheriakov's brother had been a valuable contributor at George Washington and it was hoped Nikita could provide both rebounds and outside shooting s a backup to Dajuan Summers. Mescheriakov started nine games in 2008-09 but averaged less than four points per game. Of immediate concern; a waning outside shot, averaging just 26 percent.

Seven games into his junior season (having redshirted as a freshman), Mescheriakov announced his transfer, deciding on Wake Forest two weeks later. He had a productive career at Wake, shooting 47 percent from the floor as a junior. He started all 31 games as a senior with a career high of 18 versus Duke. His regular season finale versus Georgia Tech was a 12 point, seven assist effort.

Mescheriakov could have been an interesting outside threat for Georgetown into 2010 and 2011, but both sides parted ways. Mescheriakov plays on the Belarus national team and is a professional in the Romanian league under the preferred spelling of his Byelorussian name, Mikita Meshcharakou.
