Joseph Touomou (1995-1999)

One of five African players recruited in the final years of the John Thompson era, Joe Touomou was a defensive minded player who gave with intensity what which he lacked in scoring.

A knee injury at Williamston (NC) High School sidelined the Cameroonian native for his senior season, but he proved a valuable contributor as a Georgetown freshman, starting four games in place of Victor Page in the lineup and averaging 2.5 points per game.

Future seasons would not be as kind as Touomou's poor shooting made him a liability on the court. He shot just 15 percent in 1996-97 as a backup to Page, going 0-12 from three point range. After starting 12 games his junior year, he returned to be a sixth man as a senior, scoring just 24 points in 29 games but maintaining a strong defensive presence when called upon.

Following college, Touomou returned to Africa as a coach, mentor, and scout for players seeking pro basketball opportunities.
