A transfer from Drew University in 1945, John ("Red") McGuinness played as a walk-on in the 1945-46 season, appearing in 13 games.

With the return of Elmer Ripley and the scholarship players from wartime service, none of the 1945-46 team returned to the team the following season. McGuinness graduated in 1948.
