Mid-season suspensions were common to Georgetown teams of the 1950's, so as four varsity men were dropped from the team because of grades, a call went to the reserve ranks.

One of those elevated was sophomore Jim Brown, who played in eight games as a backup guard. He graduated in 1960 with a degree in economics and later served as the executive vice president at Emery Air Freight.
