A two year veteran for the basketball team, George Donovan played in 22 games over two seasons and was the captain elect of the 1927-28 team, but did not return to school for his senior season.

No reason was given, but the September 15,1927 HOYA remembered him as follows: "George Donovan was also one of the University's prominent athletes. He has been with the basketball team for two years, though he did not win a letter or a regular berth until last winter."
