Galen Alexander (2019-2020)

Georgetown fans were shocked to hear of allegations against junior college transfer Galen Alexander in December 2019, during two weeks that led to four of its scholarship players transferring from the program. Two years earlier, Alexander had been part of a similar exodus.

Ranked as high as #91 nationally by ESPN in the spring of 2017, Alexander signed with LSU after starring at Lafayette Christian Academy. In the summer before his freshman year, Alexander and two other freshmen players were arrested in Baton Rouge, LA for shooting paintballs at a passer-by on campus. Nine games into the 2017-18 season, coach Will Wade dismissed Alexander for a violation of team rules, part of a decision to dismiss two freshmen and suspended another two players. Alexander averaged 1.9 points before the dismissal.

Alexander regrouped at Jones County JC in Ellisville, MS, averaging 17.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He earned honorable mentioned junior college All-America honors and was signed by Georgetown in April of 2019.

Gardner played in nine games of the 2019-20 season, averaging 4.2 points. On December 2, 2019, Gardner was accused in two civil complaints by a pair of Georgetown students of assault and burglary. "One woman alleged [Josh] LeBlanc burglarized her home, and claimed LeBlanc and Alexander have repeatedly threatened bodily harm against the women, verbally and by text," reported WTOP-FM. "A complaint from another woman alleged sexual harassment and assault at the home on Sept. 15, which was followed the next night by a burglary."

On Dec. 13, Alexander announced his transfer in social media, claiming that "My character has been defamed and that needs to be cleared up more than anything else. Very soon it will come to light that I am innocent and had nothing to do with the false allegations. In light of the situation, the University has allowed me to become a target and subjected to unfair treatment, with little or no support."

In reaction to a temporary restraining order filed against him by two students, he counter charged the students with a restraining order request of his own following the announcement. "I am fearful of my safety around [her]," he wrote in the complaint. "She has made up stories and accused me of crimes that I did not commit with intentions on getting me arrested.".

The request for a restraining order was withdrawn when Alexander transferred to Texas Southern, playing two seasons there.
