Charles McDougall (Doug) Pallen arrived at Georgetown as the son of one of its more famous alumni of that era, noted Catholic author Conde Pallen (C'1880, G, 1883, H'1896). A native of St. Louis, MO, Doug played on the Georgetown baseball team and was a member of the school's inaugural basketball team, seeing action in all four games that season.

After college, he moved to New York, working in a variety of jobs including the automotive editor of the New York Sun.
